Bio-based insulation
An overview of the bio-based insulation materials collected and studied within the Start 2 Reuse Insulation project. Relatively little bio-based insulation is released from buildings today, which is in itself a positive thing. These materials have generally been applied fairly recently and have often not yet reached the end of their first use phase.
Within this project, only cellulose insulation could therefore be collected and monitored in sufficient quantities. For other bio-based insulation materials, no cases were available to draw reliable conclusions about reuse or remaining performance.
Dismantling cellulose from a passive house
A passive house, completed in 2017, was unexpectedly expropriated. Instead of opting for demolition, it was decided to dismantle the house and fully rebuild it at the Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke.
